When to visit

Waterfall Season (April–June)

Snowmelt and spring rains fill the falls. Whitewater Falls cascades 411 feet, tallest east of the Rockies. Trails are quiet and green.

Cool Summer Season (July–August)

When the rest of the South swelters, Western NC is comfortable. Villages host outdoor concerts, farmers markets, and art festivals.

Leaf Season (October)

The Blue Ridge Parkway is legendary in October. Cashiers Valley Leaf Festival. Apple harvest in Waynesville. Peak color mid-month.

Secret Season (November–March)

What locals call the off-season. Fewer visitors, fireplace weather, and cozy restaurants with no wait.
